Kudumbigala-Panama Sanctuary

This sanctuary is a unique area situated adjoining Kumana-Okanda national park to its Northern side It has geological biological and archeological features which are still not properly explored. One of the main geological features of this sanctuary is the picturesque lagoons situated close to its boundary. They are Panama, Panakala, Salamba, Kunukala and Halawa. Important archeological sites are Kudumbigala pagoda, Thapo Wanaya, Budubawa, and Murugan Kovil. There are some geologically improtant sand dunes with unique biodiversity.

This sanctuary can be developed as a fine Eco-tourism entity.
